after catching a rat in my home 2 weeks ago and getting shot of it,today whilst having a good tidy out iv disscoverd rat droppings under my bath and behind my kids wardrobe,we are doing work on our kitchen,where we first discoverd it,but we ended up finding it in my sons bedroom,but as iv found rat droppings today and poisen is still down!i dont know wot to do,im petrified,its my biggest phobia,do you think it was from the same rat or do you think theres more,if theres more why havent they eat the poison?im shaking just being in my own home and want to just pack my things and go,help

Rats can breed 3-4 times a year and have up to 6 offspring at a time so the best advice is to get special rat traps that poison them and there offspring that's the surest way to get rid of them

the old rule is that if you can see one [mouse, rat, roach] there are dozens in the walls and hiding else where. since rats can carry a multitude of dieases, and can also eat their way through anything at all, including but not limited to cement and have nothing better to do withtheir time, I would really recommend getting an exterminator in there to take care of this invasion. remember, rodents are incontinent..which means, that everywhere they sit for a second, they pee, and while you can see the dropping the pee may not be as visible, like in your cupboards by food you want to eat, or on dishes that look clean..call a good exterminator and take care of this correctly.

Call in the local authorities they will explain everything to you. you need to know how it got in so that can be blocked off,if the signs point to more than one rat etc etc. If you like cats get a cat if you are not so keen loan one off a neighbour or a jack Russell . so sorry for you but it can all be sorted so don't dispair .lots of luck

Ring your local council and they will put you in touch with the pest controller that they use, if you've caught one there are others! Some rodents can be immune to poisons bought from a local shop therefore you need someone who knows what works in your area.

Very unlikely that rats travel alone. If you have had one then there is likely to be more. Call the local authority who should be able to help.

Oh how I feel sorry for you. Similar positon many years ago and I couldn't settle in my own home either. Put it on the market quicker than quick and bid a hasty retreat! Good luck.

just get poison........or if you find that the droppings are dry then they might be from the rat you found.

if the droppings are increasing consider poison and a rat killer.

YOU CAN GET HUMANE OR OTHER TRAPS FOR RATS AS POISON TAKES TIME TO GET IN THEIR SYSTEM AND THEY CAN BE COME IMMUNE TO THE POISON AND IT MAY NOT WORK. YOU CAN BUY THESE TRAPS AND PUT IN SOME CHEESE OF CHOCOLATE AND THEY WILL WALK IN THE TRAP AND GET STUCK AND THIS SHOULD GET RID OF THEM HOPEFULLY A BIT QUICKER THAN POISON.

did you manage to find where the rat got in? if not you have probably got more, sadly. get an expert in to get rid of them. or get a jack russell terrier, they love to get rats.
