I was reading an article and it said " PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group’s overall goal as “total animal liberation.” This means the complete abolition of meat, milk, cheese, eggs, honey, zoos, aquariums, circuses, wool, leather, fur, silk, hunting, fishing, and pet ownership."

So pets are a no no? I mean, dogs and cats are almost completely domesticated, so is any animal bourn in captivity and if they were just tossed back into the wild they would die. Does peta really have issues with pets?

They are against having animals as pets. That's why last year, they killed all but seven of the animals they took in. I suppose those seven are just for publicity reasons. Gotta keep the suckers who send them money happy, you know!

Also, if you can handle well...strong language, Penn and Teller did a great episode on them for their show Bullsh*t and it can be found in three parts on youtube. I will stress again, they use /very/ strong language in it. Very.

And don't get me started on the HSUS... http://activistcash.com/organization_overview.cfm/o/136-humane-society-of-the-united-states

On the website is says they wish pets were never invented. They don't want to take pets and put them in the wild but for people to spay and neuter and to get their pets from a shelter. I read how they don't want there to be "class pets" because some are tortured by the students.

I can see that they are to the extreme about animals but it makes sense because they are trying to speak to the majority of the public, who don't know about what goes on with the exploitation and abuse of animals. The average person doesn't seem to bat an eyelash at a chained dog. People like to use the phrase "oh, their fine" but the animals cant tell us. Its sad really good pet owners are a small small minority.

What PETA hates r irresponsible pet owners who dump their pets when the become inconvenient or tie them up or cage them & forget about them... every year, such ppl turn in about 10-mil animals to shelters & only about 1/2 r adopted... the rest have 2 b euthanized b/c there isn't enough room to house them all... If u have cable or satellite TV w/the animal planet channel, just watch the ANIMAL COPS show 2 c what ppl do 2 their pets... and the ASPCA commercials try to explain the same thing,

Yes they do. They believe that all animals should live in the wild without human contact.

Although spokes-people say that you should 'never buy always adopt' the true aim behind PETA is to completely eradicate pet ownership so that all animals are free.

They are completely mental in my books.

To put all animals back into the wild is not only cruel, it is incredibly dangerous both to the environment, and for people.

Feral animals are already destroying the environment, wiping out native species and threatening stock, native plants, and killing the ecosystem.

It is ridiculous to think that everybody should just release their pets into the wild.

Yes, PETA does have issues with pets. They believe in TOTAL animal liberation, as you said, which means they don't want anyone to legally be able to have pets because they consider it against the animals rights because they can't do everything they want when they want to.

peta doesn't hate animals, I question their euthanasia record and what their definition of "humane" is..but I think their beef is with the people who exploit the animals. But in a nutshell, they think animals should live free as they were intended. Domestic dogs and cats still have the ability to revert back to nature. Several dogs can survive when dumped in the forest...cats become feral and its survival of the fittest.

Wow I have read some of these, I had no idea about that. I'm new to peta, and reading about them and stuff. I had no idea they believed that. I completely disagree with them.

Yes, PETA wishes to make domestic pets illegal. I believe their saying is "Better dead than fed."

I use to be a member of PETA and trust me, they're not what they make people think.
