Regardless of what you may think, most dogs and cats actually don't fight. We currently have six dogs and one cat, and they all get along beautifully. I think it probably originates, however, from the simple fact that dogs love to chase things - especially things that move - and cats are cautious by nature so running away is one of their defense mechanisms. :)
