Today we've had to give up our kitten, Kerri, my baby =( I cried my heart out even when I held it in. I tried to hold it in but when they took Kerri and my mom turned to me and said "She's gone" I completely lost it. I cried at my grandma's house while they all assured me that a cute kitten whose littered trained will find a home...

Stella, my 8 week old Shar Pei-Lab mix…I adopted her from a shelter and the people who I was living with didn't tell me about their dog allergies so I had to return her. She was the cutest thing and when she messed inside the house, she would have the guiltiest look on her face and just look at me with her brown eyes. She was a cutie.

Starfire, my 7 week old Pitbull that I rescued from a back-yard breeder in the middle of an Atlanta summer 2 years ago. She was my baby I hand fed her from 3 weeks of age (too young I know, but she would have died if I didn't get her)…and my parents gave her up when I was caught up in a serious situation that had me gone from the state for a month (not my choice). They couldn't take care of her.

I couldn't, it would break my heart, I'm glad im an adult because as a child I did have to give pets up, but don't worry your pretty kitten will find a good home and will always remember the love you gave her.

Yes. I had to give up my Indian Ringneck and Cockatiel when I moved out of home.

I gave them to a friend though, so I knew they'd be cared for.

I've given kittens away that weren't really mine - strays that we care for and were on our property. If someone showed interest in giving one a home, yes, I was more than happy to give the cat away.

Of my own personal pets? Nope - and I've never surrendered to a shelter, either. I'm thankful that I'm not allergic to animals because I don't think I could give one away not knowing for sure where s/he would end up; least of all to a shelter.

Yes.

It's hard but you have to do it. It's muchmuchmuch harder to put an animal down than it is to give it away.

Years ago, two pet ducks for the dinner table.

Several years ago, a small dog. For eight years I would go outside before going to bed and tell the dog good night. Then I got the promised letter that the dog had died.
