I saw an animal and I have NO idea what it was?

Question

I was rounding a sharp corner very slowly on a gravel road when I barely missed a smallish animal...I live in northwest missouri...It was solid gray, with maybe some darker tipping...It's head was VERY large in propotion to it's body..It's very large ears were well covered in fur...It stood on it's hind legs and the thing was SERIOUSLY almost all head...It had very large eyes...

I've been searching for like 2 hours on the internet for a pic of this thing because it's really bugging me...I've never seen anything like it...It looked right up at me when I rounded the corner...At ME, not my car or my 2 dogs in the back seat...

I stopped the car and backed up, but I'll be darned if there wasn't another car coming around the corner..
This is a somewhat descalate (sp) area that's all farmland...

It wasn't a cat, dog, coyote, fox, bunny...anything like that...I've never seen anything like it...Can anyone give me a clue on what I saw ??

Sounds like it may have been a Porcupine or an Opossum standing on it's hind legs?

it was either a coon a chinchilla or a harry geek with a big head

it sounds like a chinchilla but thats unlikely. are you sure it wasnt a possum?

how about a jackrabbit? they can look scary at night, and they are kind of smallish with very big ears and big eyes.
