depends on your time constraints.

I had some pet mice for a while- 2 girls and a boy. They of course made babies to feed my snakes, but the parents were tame enough I could play with. Just didn't tame the babies and fed them out.

Ferrets are awesome but usually would not work with dogs.

Chinchillas or hedgehogs are another option- they are more nocturnal, and as long as the cage is big enough, don't need a lot of outside time.

Rat (like miniature dogs lol), ferret, chinchilla, frog or toad, cat (pretty self-reliant and fun to play with)...there are a lot of rescues out there-- I suggest you think about a rescue animal before considering a pet store.

There are also exotics, but you should have ots of time, room, a exotics vet, and years of research before getting one!

small animal like a rat or guinea pig - sounds like you can handle more exotic pets, so maybe a chinchilla or hedgehog

start an aquarium - fun hobby to get into, and fish can be fun and relaxing to watch

i think, fishes could be great,

but, it will be boring

a ponny is a better choice, because you can ride it with your boyfriend, haha :D

but again, it shall be hard to take care

a weasel is the answer, i have one, it's the perfect pet for everybody

try to buy a baby weasel, to make your weasel become close to you,

or catch it at wild, remember, take when it was a baby, it's about april to may, good luck !

Rats are very sweet pets, as are (some) birds and hamsters. That is what I would recommend. Make sure you do your homework before you buy anything, though.
